|Almost 150 events will take place around the country during the next ten days, covering the vast majority of the MSA`s 22 disciplines. Having sent details of the week and an information pack to encourage clubs to participate in the national promotion earlier this year, the MSA is delighted with the enthusiastic response from a huge number of clubs.
Colin Hilton, MSA Chief Executive, said:
“National Motorsport Week is a joint initiative between the MSA and the MIA to raise awareness of motor sport among new audiences. Our delivery mechanism for this has to be through the established club structure and we are delighted with the response to this year`s campaign.
“There are special events, open days, promotional offers and opportunities to just have a go. Motor sport is a thrilling activity for competitors, spectators, volunteer officials and marshals – so the more people we can get to experience the sport, the better. Lewis Hamilton`s exploits in Formula 1 this season are helping to lift the profile of motor sport in the general press, and we very much hope that National Motorsport Week will build on this platform.”

The BTRDA (British Trial and Rally Drivers Association) will be holding a Motorsport Open Day at Catton Hall, near Burton upon Trent, on Saturday 18 August, offering a chance for anyone to come and try out, for free, different forms of motorsport including grass auto testing and production car trials and find out more about getting involved.
Drivers from the MG Metro Cup will be taking their cars along to Drayton Manor Theme Park and Zoo on Sunday the 12th August to provide a static display and showcase the sport to a highly desirable family audience.
Knockhill Racing Circuit is joining the Motorsport Scotland Forum at Bell College, Hamilton on Tuesday, 14th August to encourage new blood into the sport and to highlight all the different careers and opportunities offered through education and industry.
The 750 Motor Club Summer Festival Race weekend featuring the thrilling Stock Hatch Championship 10th Anniversary race at Silverstone on 18/19th August.
Cheltenham Motor Club is holding a number of events, to promote local motorsport, on the weekend of 17th-19th August, including autotest, static displays, barbeque and treasure hunt.
Leading UK sportscar manufacturer Lola will be opening its doors to the public on Wednesday 15 August.
