MSA assists with motor sport development in Malta

Allan Dean-Lewis MBE, the Motor Sports Association’s Head of External Affairs, last week visited the national governing body of motor sport in Malta, at the invitation of Tonio Cini, President of the Malta Motorsport Federation.

During the three-day visit, Mr Dean-Lewis met with Clyde Puli (Malta’s Parliamentary Secretary for Sport, Youth and Culture) and Bernard Vassallo (Chairman of the Malta Sports Council), gave a keynote speech at a conference on Motorsport Safety and Risk Management, participated in two TV programmes and visited clubs, venues and motor sport companies on the island.

Commenting on the visit, Mr Dean-Lewis said:

“There is undoubtedly a great deal of enthusiasm for motor sport in Malta and I was made extremely welcome by everyone I met. There was particular interest in hearing about the extensive safety training programmes that we run in the UK for marshals and officials. It was a very worthwhile visit and allowed the MMF to benchmark their activities and start to plot a progressive pathway forward.”

Colin Hilton, MSA Chief Executive:

“The MSA is held is high regard around the world, not least for the work we do in safety, training and risk management. It is not by chance that the UK boasts some of the best trained volunteers and officials in the world and naturally other ASNs are interested to hear how we can help them to improve their standards.”
