MSA to expand successful Elite scheme into racing
The MSA British Rally Elite was launched last summer as a long-term initiative to develop the best rallying talent in the country and assist them with the progression onto the world stage. The initial progress of the first six members has underlined the effectiveness of the programme and generated much greater understanding of the challenge of talent development at the highest levels.

Buoyed by the scheme`s success, the MSA is now evaluating how to extend the concept into circuit racing and will be talking to interested parties in the coming weeks.

"The intention was always to roll out a similar scheme for racing and also possibly for karting," explains Colin Hilton, Chief Executive of the Motor Sports Association. "There was a great deal of debate initially about how best to proceed in rallying, but I think that the progress of the first six students on the Rally Elite programme and the feedback of everyone involved has demonstrated that this is a template that can be applied in other disciplines.

"There are many parties who have expressed an interest in facilitating this kind of a programme in racing and no doubt they will all have some interesting ideas. We will be talking to a number of them in the coming weeks before deciding how best to proceed."

Anyone wishing to submit a proposal for consideration by the Motor Sports Association should contact Bruce Goddard, MSA Business Development Director, on 01753 765000 or bgoddard@msauk.org.
