|Colin Hilton, MSA Chief Executive, comments:
"No-one should be in any doubt about the quality of Andy`s achievements. He has repeatedly taken on the very best touring car drivers in the world and emerged victorious. He is fully deserving of the recognition that his success brings and those within the sport appreciate his professionalism and dedication. His success is a fine example to young British drivers currently cutting their teeth in UK motor sport as to what can be achieved on the world stage.
“Andy`s route to the top once again underlines the effectiveness of our national motor sport system. He first came to prominence when winning the 1995 MSA British Hill Climb Championship with a remarkable 100 per cent record. Four years later Andy completed another clean sweep when winning all 13 rounds of the Renault Spider sports car series. He enjoyed further victories in both the MSA British Formula 3 Championship and the MSA British Touring Car Championship before graduating to the world`s premier touring car championship. Andy has already proved to be a great ambassador for UK motor sport and he richly deserves his hat-trick of world championships."
