This year’s Wales Rally GB was without doubt one of the most testing of recent times, not only for competitors and teams, but also for the organising team and the thousands of volunteers and officials working behind the scenes on the event.
On behalf of the MSA and IMS, we would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone involved; your professionalism, commitment and operational expertise enabled this world championship event to overcome every challenge that was thrown its way.
It was fitting that the weekend culminated in such a thrilling finale and our congratulations go to Sebastien Loeb and his Citroen team on their fifth world title and this first success on Wales Rally GB.
As ever, without the support of the marshals and volunteers this event simply could not take place so we are hugely grateful to them for braving the conditions and doing such a wonderful job as usual. The fans have also been fantastic all weekend and we are thankful to them for their understanding when plans have to be changed at the last moment.
Thanks to the hard work and support from all our partners on the event, from government and councils to landowners and emergency services, we look forward to welcoming everyone back to Cardiff and Swansea in 2009.
