Malcolm Wilson, Director of the BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team, was awarded an OBE (Officer of the British Empire) for his services to British motorsport in The Queen's Birthday Honours list announced this weekend.
Colin Hilton, Chief Executive of the Motor Sports Association, said:
“There are few people more deserving of this award than Malcolm Wilson. Over the last 30 years, Malcolm has dedicated himself to the sport, becoming one of world rallying’s most successful names. Having enjoyed domestic and international success as a driver, he has since excelled as a team principal, claiming two manufacturers’ world titles for Ford in 2006 and 2007.
“Malcolm has done a great deal to assist with the development of motor sport in this country and we were delighted last year when he agreed to become an Ambassador for the MSA’s Go Motorsport campaign. He is hugely respected around the world and this award is fitting recognition of his experience and success.”
