|All four-wheeled motor sports events in the UK take place under the MSA`s jurisdiction and event organisers must apply for an MSA event permit. The MSA permit ensures that the event is covered by the MSA`s Public Liability and Personal Accident insurance.
Some of the volunteer medical personnel who have always had such an important role at motor sport events had faced a ten-fold increase in the premiums for their own professional insurance cover in 2004.
"Obtaining competitive insurance cover is crucial for the MSA," says Colin Hilton, Chief Executive of the MSA. "The medical malpractice extension was absolutely essential to provide adequate cover for people giving up their personal time to enable motor sport to take place as safely as possible. I must again thank Alexander Forbes for their continued good work on our behalf and we are delighted to be working with Brit Insurance."
"It is our job to go to the market and find the best possible cover for our client," explains Nigel Hayden of Alexander Forbes. "Brit Insurance demonstrated an excellent knowledge of the sport and were prepared to offer a three-year deal, which provides a level of stability for everyone. This, combined with the extended cover for a similar annual premium, makes it an excellent deal."
The new underwriters, Brit Insurance, have also underlined their commitment to the sport by supporting the MSA`s prestigious Night of Champions annual awards ceremony which takes place this Friday (21 January) at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall.
